2.GROWTH OF INDUSTRIES IN THE NON SSI SECTOR
The Index of Industrial Production (IIP) is compiled on a monthly basis by the Central Statistical Organisation (CSO) for which the Ministry of Commerce and Industry provides data on 209 item groups which accounts for 52% of the total weight.
The overall growth rate of 209 industries using the IIP weights for the month of August 2007 was 10.6%. The growth rates of the important sub-groups of Industries have been as under:-
